Thanks to Chrissie and Chris Garrett for organising a book sale at Church House on Saturday 8 July. It proved to be a happy social event with many old friends taking the opportunity to catch up over a cup of coffee in the strong sunshine.
Thanks also to Evelyn Jacomb for running the raffle with a brilliant basket of goodies as the prize.
Congratulations to June Simpson who won the raffle hamper!
We made £204.50 from the event which is a very welcome addition to our funds in support of the library.
Saturday 12 December was the day for our annual Festive Morning event at Church House. John Cordingley presided over a vat of mulled wine which smelled wonderful and tasted even better while Anne Dawson and Angela Everett sold raffle tickets for two wonderful prizes that had Christmas Hamper, bursting with things to eat and drink over the Christmas period while the second prize was a magnum of champagne. There was also a children’s prize to ensure they were not left out. Church House was humming with people using the library and people coming for the mulled wine and a chance to win the raffle. It was a delightful morning for all concerned. I have no doubt we will repeat it early in December 2016.
