The weekly Friday coffee morning in the library is run by volunteers and is very popular with library users and others throughout the year. Funds raised are divided between Church House and Focal and we are delighted to learn that the coffee mornings in 2017 raised £2,000 with half of this – £1,000 – due to come to Focal towards our annual fundraising target of £9,000 plus to maintain library opening hours.
Our very grateful thanks to the regular volunteers who give up their time on Friday mornings to make this event so enjoyable and to all those who support it.
Saturday 12 December was the day for our annual Festive Morning event at Church House. John Cordingley presided over a vat of mulled wine which smelled wonderful and tasted even better while Anne Dawson and Angela Everett sold raffle tickets for two wonderful prizes that had Christmas Hamper, bursting with things to eat and drink over the Christmas period while the second prize was a magnum of champagne. There was also a children’s prize to ensure they were not left out. Church House was humming with people using the library and people coming for the mulled wine and a chance to win the raffle. It was a delightful morning for all concerned. I have no doubt we will repeat it early in December 2016.
