19 Sep 2018 – Focal Meet the Author: Sylvia Vetta
We are planning another of our successful and interesting Meet the Author events at Church House on Wednesday 19 September from 4:30 pm.
Sylvia Vetta is an author and writer on art, antiques and history. Sylvia’s first novel Brushstrokes in Time was published in 2016 and is mostly set in China. It was inspired by interviewing in depth the Stars Art Movement founder whose latest exhibition Qu Lellei A Chinese artist in Britain is at the Ashmolean until April 15. Sylvia’s superbly researched and beautifully told fictional memoir is about love, art, and Chinese history and politics.
Fictional hero, Little Winter, is, like Lellei (and Welmin He) a passionate artist from the time she can hold a pen. Like everyone from an educated background, her life is tossed into turmoil with the launch of the Cultural Revolution.
Sylvia’s first book was Oxford Castaways in three volumes and containing interviews with 120 remarkable people linked to Oxford.
Tickets £8.00 per head to include a glass of wine or soft drink; accompanied children are admitted free. There will be a book signing after the talk.
Tickets from the library or by e-mail from Keith Mitchell
